Glock 45 Recoil Spring lb.ratings?
« on: July 15, 2009, 08:19:18 AM »
The Colt 1911 Govt. model uses a 16lb recoil spring - Commander is 18lb - Officers is 20lb. The shorter lighter slides use a heavier spring to slow slide travel. Glock uses a 17lb in the model 21 - 30 - 36. The 36 slide is shorter - narrower - lighter but still uses the same spring rating. Isn't the 36 undersprung?

Not in Glock's opinion (apparently). The 36 is WAY light for a 45 and is susceptible to "limp-wrist" jams as it is. A heavier recoil spring would INCREASE that likelyhood for most people.

But for what it's worth, I put heavier set of springs (Wolff 19#) in mine because I like to shoot 200 +P...

I don't think you can compare dual spring designs to single spring designs.
