Just curious, what would you tip an outfitter for a drop camp hunt that was well operated and you were treated top notch? No guide service just drop camp fully prepared with tent and all essentials. I have always DIY elk hunts but this year I am trying drop camp and would like to have proper etiquette when all said and done. The drop camp is $1100/man. Appreciate any comments.

Both sides of my family has always been given something from the hunter's neck of the woods (like a bunch of jerky, or a hunter's recipe summer sausage, knives...stuff like that) or like a jacket if the hunter has his own outfitting service elsewhere.  I have even witnessed the trading of hunts the next time around. I don't think I have ever seen them accept tips.  If I were to tip a guide, though, I would say $100 sounds reasonable.

10% of the hunting price is what most guides expect if they give you good service.

Went fishing and a little bit of hunting in Canada. When i got back in the States.I had my brother n law make a skinning knife for the guide. My
brother n law charges over $1000 for his knives and there well worth it.He engraved a couple of bears and a moose on the knife.I sent it to the guide and he sent me back a black bear skin, all done up,and a order
for two more knives. What I like the best was my brother n law gave me the knife,no charge. 8)
