Give Me Your Opinions On Winchester Dynapoint
« on: July 01, 2009, 06:28:42 PM »
Hello,

I grabbed 1000 rounds of this stuff the other day.

There are a few that have had failures to fire, but the powder charges seem pretty consistent.

However, my main question has to do with terminal effectiveness.  They have a pretty small hollowpoint.  I was told though that these were designed to deal with rabbits in Australia.

Squirrel season is coming up August 15th.  Can I count on this stuff to work as well as the Winchester Xpert I came to love, but can no longer find?

Thanks,

Josh <><

The Dynapoint is a much less expensive runner-up to the CCI SGB (Small Game Bullet), just about as accurate in my rifles, and VERY effective on small game w/o excessive meat destruction.

IOW, an excellent product for hunting use, in any .22 that "likes" it.

Ammo with larger HP's will ruin excessive meat, with anything except a head shot.

This is a 30yd, 3-shot group, done Tuesday morning with my Browning ATD & Dynapoints:

How many replies didja get on the several other websites you asked this question ?

If I'm not mistaken the Winchester Dynapoint has a 40gr. hollow point. Most of the Federal and Remington ammo has a 36gr hollow point. All the Dynapoints I have shot worked great. I didn't use them for hunting but I did get good results on paper.
