357 max scope mount

I have a MGM, 14" full bull 357 max barrel. I will mount a 2.5-8X leupold on it. The scope will be in Burris Z rings.
I see some use three rings on heavy recoil hand guns.
Do I need three rings on this set up?

I would not think so, my .357 Max in 12" length only required two, but if you have an extra ring..It wouldn't hurt!

    I agree with spinafish, I don't think it's entirely necessary at all.  I wouldn't consider the Max as a heavy recoiler, especially in a 14" barrel.  However....since you are mounting a larger vary power scope, I would be more comfortable with it mounted with 3 rings.  Most scope failures, especially vary powers, are from the tube flexing.  The function of the third ring is to reduce this flexure more so than to keep the scope from slipping.  With that nice of a scope a third ring is cheap insurance. ;)  Walt
