While the brand name is not highly though of the BSA Sweet 17 scopes make perfect sense to me for the .17 HMR so much so in fact I bought one in 3-12 for mine long ago and ended up selling the rifle before mounting the scope. I still have it new in box and one day will no doubt have another .17 HMR rifle to put it on so I continue to hold onto it.

I'm with you Graybeard. I have a Sweet 17 that is still in the box, and will get saddled up soon.

My 917V is wearing a Weaver 3-9X38.  I have a few of these scopes and really like them.
Good clear optics smaller bell that looks right on a smaller rimfire rifle.  But I also have one mounted on a Ruger M77/22 in 22 Hornet and a M77 ML in 30-06
Midsouth carries them. $173.44. (Graybeard got the advertiser right this time)
It is the only scope in that class.
But mine is set up for Ground squirrels and Coyote out to 100 yards.
What do you want to use yours for?  Use will help everyone to select a scope.

My recommendation was based on low initial cost and it is the only scope I'm aware of that is programmed for the trajectory of the round out to around 175-200 yards. The idea sounds good at least. If I ever put mine to use I reckon I'll know if it works.

I am with GB as well.  I have the .22 sweet and it does make the gun a heck of alot of fun.   I would be slow to but one on a .270 but the Sweet is built strong enough for a rimfire and should serve you for a long time.  And it is cheap.  I am seeing them on sale in the mail flyers right now.  I think cheaper than dirt, midway usa both showed them in there sale flyers.  May have been cableas too.  Shop around.

You know the stainless will not match the rifle.
you will never get a scope and a rifle to match exactly.
Wow there is a marketing idea.  Have a company make scopes that match the different rifle makers stainless.

A friend's kid wanted a stainless rifle with a stainless scope and was upset when the two did not match and the rings were a third color.
we talked him into basic flat black for the scope and rings.
You never answered what you are going to use the rifle for.

Good choice! Here's a pic of an APV on an 882 posted at RFC which looks like the same SS as my 917VS, looks good to me!  ;)

if where you shoot will let you.  Bring a bag a baking potatos.  And up to 100 yards away the little 17 grain bullet will make that potato into a white ball about 3 feet round.  Cheap reactive targets.  My friends and I call them Simu- Squirrels
