Slug gun sights
« on: June 21, 2009, 12:10:46 PM »
Hello everyone,
I need some advice.  I have a set of Williams firesights on my Win 1200 20ga smoothbore slug barrel.  They are near max adjustment and less than ideal for my intended use.  Do any of you have any suggestions on a decent adjustable peep sight set that would fit on the Win barrel using the existing sight slots?  I think that the Win 1300 sights are interchangeable with the Win 1200 if that helps.  Do any of you have pics of your favorites?

Thanks, Dinny

If the top of your 1200 receiver is drilled & tapped you may be able to use something like this:  http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=945296
If you go with a peep, you will want it on the back of the receiver.

Good point you make on the peep sight, I didn't think of that at all.  I don't want to alter the aluminum receiver, I just paid to have an old screw hole filled before it was refinished.  Unfortunately the barrel is not drilled and tapped.  I have just the factory sight slots to use. Thanks for the info and suggestion.

Williams makes a peep that replaces the blade in their rear sights. As for nearing max adjustment, you can solve that by changing to a taller or shorter front blade, depending on which way you need to go.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into that.  For some odd reason I was also nearing the max windage adjustments too. Everything was stable and not moving either.  I guess I will have to try again this year and see if things have changed. Since I last shot the gun, it has been DuraCoated and they polished the bore, I expect it will shoot differently now.

Thanks, Dinny

If its set up the same as the Williams sights on my Mossberg, you can adjust the front sight for windage as well. If you need to go a bit more to the left, offset the front blade a bit to the right in its dovetail . Need to go right, do the opposite. It may be that the front blade is offset a bit already, causing the problem. Or the guys at the factory put it together crooked (not that that has ever happened). Let us know how you make out.

Thanks, I will try looking at the placement of the sights more closely.  It may be a little while, but I'll report back with my findings.

Thanks, Dinny
