Just call or e-mail SSK Industries, and they will e-mail or mail you a loading sheet for the 6.5JDJ!

Only load SSK lists for IMR 4895 in a 6.5JDJ at all is for a Speer 120 gr. bullet.  SSK's recommended general powder for this cartridge using any of the 100-140 gr bullet weights are 2015BR, 2230, 2460, 2520, 2700 or 4350.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

120 gr Speer or 120gr BT and JD's reccomended dose of IMR4320 has worked for me for about 18 years now.  Walt

I agree with Walt. I have had one of these barrels in the past and still load for one for a freind of mine. Tried most all of the powders but the IMR 4320 was by far the best with 2 different bullets. Al

For most of the '70's and all the '80's I thought the .30 Herret was the greatest thing since sliced bread.  In about '91 I ran upon a fellow who had bought a SSK 6.5JdJ barrel, dies and load data. He seemed upset beacuse he could not go buy ammo for it(don't know what he thought the dies and data were for).  Anyway, being the nice guy that I am, I relieved him of his problem.  The Herret has been pretty much out to pasture ever since.
I started out with the 120 Speer and have never used anything else on deer simply because it has worked so well.  The 120BT is a little more accurate(although both shoot very good) but I've not shot anything other than paper and beer cans.  If you chase smaller critters, the 85gr Sierra is super in my barrel at least.  All loaded with IMR 4320.
GOOD SHOOTIN',  ;)Walt
I think if it ever came to it...the 6.5JDJ would be the last one they pry out of my cold dead fingers!

Thanks for all the replys. I have loaded with IMR 4895 for many years and used it from 222 to 458 Win mag and have a good supply of it. I am going to try a few loads and see what developes, but I will definatly pick up some IMR 4320 to try also. Basicly I am punching paper now and have plenty of 100gr, 120gr, 140gr, Sierra,Nosler, Speer, & Hornady bullets and a bunch of Berger 130VLDs and the Bergers are what I am more interested in playing with at 1,2,3 & 500 yard ranges.olddudeone

Let us know how the 4895 works out...just checked the burn rates and 4895 is closer than I would have thought to 4320 :o.  Also interested in how those Bergers shoot.  Never tried any in anything bigger than .224".  You're gonna have a ball with the 6.5!!!
GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt ;D
