Loading a 30-06 with ejector?

I have a .30-06 handi rifle with an EJECTOR.  When you load a cartridge (push it into the chamber), is it suppose to seat all the way into the chamber or is it supposed to stop (catch) on the ejector and then go all the way into the chamber when you close the breach?

On mine, it may do either, but the case will still eject okay when you open the breach.

When it seats all the way into the chamber first, the case will have a slight nick on it where the ejector has slipped underneath the edge of the case when the breach was closed.

Same question for a .223 with an EXTRACTOR...

On the ejector, if the rifle is open all the way, the ejector may fall down letting the case fall past the ejector and into the chamber.  Part way open and it will catch on the ejector.  I don't own an extractor barrel.  Larry

Either way it shouldn't really be a problem. I have mostly Ejector models but I am pretty sure the Extractor models do the same. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it's really making a sharp cut.

My 270 ejector barrelt behaves this way, and I've had no problems.

My BC barrel is an extractor, and the rim of the shell will catch on the extractor when the barrel is open, and it is allowed to seat as the barrel is closed.

All my Handis have ejectors.  When I load them I like to have the cartridge stop with the ejector in the grove at the case head.  That way when the gun is closed the cartridge goes in with the ejector.  My 30-06 is tight, and the case drags on the ejector as it goes in.  There is no way I can load a cartridge past the ejector.  My .35 Whelen is the same.  Now my Ultra .223 will do it if I just drop it in.  But I use just a little down pressure as I load the case and it stops on the ejector.  If it happens to get loaded all the way, it still ejects upon opening.
