Stainless Discontinued
« on: June 03, 2009, 09:56:01 AM »
I did a quick search and didn't see this posted anywhere...

Some of you may remember that I have a .444 ultra stainless that doesn't lock up very tight.  I was waiting until things settled in NY before sending it in for repair.  From what I have read, things are good these days so I called to check the availability of a .357 Mag to add on to my rifle.  The reply was 3+ months.  Since I was under the impression that my barrel may need to be replaced, I asked about the availability of a stainless .444 barrel should mine need to be replaced.  I was informed by the customer service guy that all stainless Handi products have been discontinued, and there were no more stainless .444 barrels and if it came to that I would have to choose either a blued .444 barrel or they have a few 45/70 stainless barrels available for repair/replacement.

I'll make a new post on how to handle my situation, but thought everyone might like to know.  If you want a stainless Handi, you had better get it now.

Does that apply to their 30-06 SS barrels?

There are still SS barrels listed on the updated acc barrel list, if you want one, better get it whilst you can, some SS barrels have already been discontinued as Remington thins the inventory to just best selling offerings.  The SS 444 was never on the accessory list, it was a special order rifle only for Southwest US distributors for the Mississippi and Louisiana "primitive" deer seasons.

The CSR I spoke to said all SS products has been discontinued, frames and barrels.  When I called they had a handful of 45/70 and .270 left (the only other ones I asked about).

Yeah, and you could call again and get an entirely different answer, that's been proven over and over again!  ::)  :-\
