Well it was another beautiful day it Montana...started out the morning thinking I had to go help Southpaw proof his bowling bowl mortar...when it turned out it wasn't time for that I cranked up the lead and zinc furnaces and got ready to cast some round ball...after the third pour of zinc, I started to get a good ball...then the phone range...good friend Steve had friends in town and he needed some help getting them on gophers...so I packed foundry gear up and head up to help Steve. I am just that kind of guy to help out a friend quiding gopher hunters for him...yes, yes I am very noble...

I took three of the guys and found them some gophers. They were shooting Savage bolt guns in 17 HMR. The shot sevral hundred rounds each. I was the guide and fired less than 100 rounds of 17 HM2. I made one really good shot on a small gopher at a lasered 148 yards.
This young man was the youngest of the group. I found him this big boar Jack at 165 lasered yards. He hit the jack in the chest first shoot, but it took two more rounds to put it down. Right at the far edge of range for the 17HMR
