CZ 375 H&H
« on: May 31, 2009, 05:08:32 AM »
I'm considering buying this rifle. Is there any problems or concerns with this gun. I have a CZ 452 and love it but somewhere I read where they were having trouble with the stocks splitting on some of the larger calibers.

Thanks. I did buy the CZ 550 Americian sarfari rifle in 375 H & H. I can't wait to shoot it. I did'nt want to scope it but my older eyes are too fuzzy. I had a Swift 2x7 Gold line scope laying around and mounted it tonight. It is a great scope-I hope it holds up till I can do better. I have had great luck with Swift scopes. I need to get my weights out and exercise again-that sucker is heavy. ::) I'm glad to see CZ improved the rifle with the cross bolts. Is you rifle glass bedded? Production on my rifle was June 2007. Mine has the cross bolts.

The Stock will not split with two bolts in the rifle. With none it will split.
I don't know if it will be covered with the warranty. They should have known about the preasure with no bolts.

When you shoot that puppy, take care that the front swivwl mount doesn't wreck your off hand.

I had to remove the forend swivel mount from mine, and install a barrel ring mount QD stud - filling the resultant forend hole with an inlaid cartridge/case head.

My $0.02, though, IMHO you're over-scoping it, with the variable.
In my experience, if you must use a scope, eyesight and aiming does best with a bright, low-powered 2 1/2X or 3X - and I would only put a Leupold ($270) on a .375H&H.

BTW - You'll like the weight, once you get to shooting it some.
It's nowhere near as heavy as a Ruger .375H&H or a Model 70 .458, though.
