7.62x25 Handi.....
« on: May 30, 2009, 05:03:21 AM »
I found a guy with 16"+ chambered blanks in 7.62x25mm.  I needed one for a project I fully intend to get around to, eventually.  So I bought two.

I have a 9mm stub project ready to go, and now I may have to do one in the little 7.62 cartridge too.  For the obvious reason (because I can).

Should be a fun little plinker.  Fairly flat shooting round for a pistol cartridge and it's cheap stuff to buy for now.  Small, light ammo.  Fill up a pocket and go have fun.

I have a CZ pistol chambered in this round.  I think it would be a great little rifle round in a short Handi set-up.  VERY fast little pill coming out of even the short barrel.  DP

I have a CZ and a Tokarev pistol in this round.  I would love a handi in this caliber.  Great idea!

Yes.  He is over on the"weapons guild" forum and his handle is  Mad Machinist.  I don't think it's apropriate to give his price and contact info here since this isn't the for sale area and he isn't on this board, but if your interested you can probably find him from that info.  If you still have trouble PM me and I'll send you a link to the thread.

Let me get this straight.  A 38 special case is necked down to 30 cal?  Cool.

ok if interrested its called a 30 reece.....its a 38 special case necked to 30 cal then case is shoten about a 1 8 of a inch........i took a 30 carb reamer to 30 cal bbl blank then cut the back to 38 special rim..then chambered to 762..25.....now i take 38 special brass run in 762..25 die a out comes a neeced down 38 case and load with a little red dot and a 180 gr. lead bullet and the best cheapest shooting rifle i can shoot....if i need a little more power fill it with 4227 a put in a 150 gr or small weight jacked bullet and it will send it out at1900 fps///////////knowing a good smith is great.......knowing one who wont charge you a arm and a leg is priceless..........

Interesting.  The rimmed case has got to be a big help when setting up the Handi in that new caliber.

BTW,  I got my barrel blanks in the mail today.  I don't know now if I'm going to use the 20g barrel I have for the 9mm I bought it for, or if I'll do the 30 Tokarov first.  9mm will be cool, but this may be even cooler.

i also have a 9mm in a handy i recessed the back of the barrel to put in a e-clip on the 9mm bullet so the extractor pulls the e-clip and brass out when fired.  If I dont use the e-clip, I can usually pull the brass out with my fingers.  PM me where u got the barrels and the cost.  I want to build another 32 mag, this just might be the barrel I need.
