We lost our son Jack
« on: May 27, 2009, 02:58:16 PM »
To my friends,

It is with broken heart that I pass on the sad news that We lost our son, Jack Louis Hazelett May 23. He drown in a hotel pool at the Princess Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. He was 6 years old. The grief is too much to go into details about “how, why”, etc, and frankly it just doesn’t matter to me. My son is gone. He is survived by father (me), Chris, mother, Susan, and his 12 year old sister, Sarah.

His services are Sunday, May 31st at the Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway rd, Phoenix, AZ. 85022. A contact name at the service would be Carol Rosales, 602-971-7350. Any cards or whatever can be sent there if desired.

We shall hold him in our hearts forever.

I can only bear to type this once, as the grief is near to crushing me, so forgive me for posting the same post to multiple forums that I frequent. I don’t know how long I will be offline, but I expect it will be some time. Thank you for your coming kind words, and please pray for his sister Sarah, who sadly witnessed the entire horror. We will have counseling set up for us all to help us survive this grief.

Signing off for now,

Chris Hazelett,
Aka, Slowpoke Slim.

I also don’t really know what to say. Too hard to comprehend this loss and the pain. What little I can say is that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Folks...

I would go now and buy a card to send to the family but there is absolutely NO way it would arrive in time for the ceremony since I live in Germany.  Could someone, anyone, please get a card or a better yet a handwritten letter in the mail today?  Please sign it "From all you friends at Graybeard Outdoors"...  I would be happy to send you the cost of the card and postage to cover your expenses if necessary.

I have recurring nightmares about losing a kid, especially my 9 year old boy...

Please, someone send some mail...

Thanks,
NGH

Will send up a prayer for you and your family. It is very hard for those of us who are parents or even not parents to know how to put in words what will give you comfort in your time of loss. Maybe knowing that your friends on the forum are all praying for you will give you some comfort. God bless and comfort you and your wife and children.

Chris, Unfortunately we tend to let the value of life get away from us sometimes and a friend's terrible loss jars us back to reality and renews our realization of how precious life really is.  I cannot imagine what you're going through now, but I hope and pray that the Lord will be with you, your wife and daughter and help you through this tragic loss.

I managed to get all the way through the replies so far, but it did take a couple of attempts.

All I can say at this point is "Thank You".

The outpouring from our community, and especially from the kids school has been unbelievable.

We have friends we aren't even aware of.

My daughter has written a poem for Jack, and it's being printed on the program for his service. It is just beautiful. I don't have the strength to type it yet to share, but she has a talent that surely didn't come from me.

Some moments are better than others for us, we never know when the grief will take us. My wife had to leave the grocery store yesterday in tears...

I know it will get better, for now we're just trying to make it through the day. We will start arranging our counseling next week, and just go where ever that leads us.

If I didn't have my wife and daughter to be here for, I don't think I could carry on from the pain of it all.

I want to say "God Bless You" to each and every one of you.

Tell your family that you love them, even if you know that they know. That is something that we had always done ourselves. Go hug your children if you can, you can never have enough hugs.

Thank you.

Chris,

You and your family will be in our prayers.  We have a 5 month old little girl and I have a 13 year old girl from a past marriage and sometimes I think about what I would do if something happened to either one.

I can't describe to you in words how I feel this very moment as I'm tearing up grieving for your loss.

If you need someone to talk to, feel free to PM me and I would be honored to speak with you.

God Bless
