rechambering a 45/70
« on: May 25, 2009, 02:18:45 AM »
OK so I purchased another 45/70 barrel for my 45/70. Question is what could I chamber this for?

45/90,110,120? 50/70? 458 mag? any others you could think of?

thanks

Unless you are going to use black powder only, I wouldn't rechamber it to anything bigger than the .45-90.

Several people here have chambered to 45-120 and I'm pretty sure they go smokeless.  Ask M'Lord Tim......

+1 on what Swampman said. The 45-90 is a good one. It won't trash your shoulder, cases can be found easily, and data is readily available.

If I can ever get the time and money both at the same time I plan to do one in .577-450 Martini Henry . I have 100 peices of brass , a set of dies , load data for both Black as well as Smokeless powder , a Donor barrel , so all I need to do is get the chamber done .

I have been working on this for about 3 years now getting things together , hopefully it will come together yet this summer but I want to finish the 219 D Wasp first .  ???  ;)
