Grizzly ate trail camera
« on: May 23, 2009, 09:37:58 AM »
My friend has a bait station up on the Haul Road.  He is baiting for Black Bear.  He went up and baited the station earlier in the week.  Last night he went in to check his trail camara to see what was hitting the bait.  When he got there his camera was severly damaged. He brought it home to see if he could salvage the pictures and find what had hit the station.

First three shots were of a large Grizzly hitting the bait and cleaning it up.  The last shot was nothing but the bears mouth as it bit the camera.  He needs to find a different location for his camera next time.

Rogie,

I was able to save one picture and I fixed the camera. I'm going back tomorrow evening. They were cheap cameras and who knows maybe I'll still have a chance at a blackie. After I bait tomorrow, it won't get baited again for 2 weeks. I hope the griz will move off.

I had a black bear chew up my Cam Tracker a couple of years ago.  I sent it back to them and they fixed it for free......  S--- happens.

Kirk, I guess our wives got it mixed up when relaying the story to me, I understood you got all four pictures.  Sorry, I was wrong.  I should not have posted anyway, I should have let you do that.  Had not noticed you on line lately or I would have.  Rog

Those pictures are great!  Glad to hear the camera was repairable.

KP,

You must be out of your mind.  :-)

You've got an active bait site, where a grizzly is feeding, and you're gonna go back out there with more bait slung over your shoulders and spread some more around.?

You have more bravery than I do. Let me guess, you like to go out at 2 in the morning to top it off.

Well, I won't set here and tell everyone that they are nothing but big ole babies. I will say that most bears, especially Grizzlies, run off way before I get to the stand. Just in case though, I always have my 45-70 Guide Gun stuffed with 430 grain Hammer Heads and ready.

Here's more pictures from the stand this year. Bait season is over and some of these pictures came from the cameras that I left out there just to see what came by. Enjoy!

KP:  Good shots, we need to go up there in September and see if we can call one of them in.  Down load that 45-70 and let your son shoot it.

Wow, that's a big bear.  I'd be carrying that 45/70 with me too.
