MAJOR CHANGES AT GBO
« on: May 17, 2009, 09:45:37 PM »
Ok folks, for some time now I have been wanting to make some changes but have not been able to due to lack of time and software conflicts. Well I have found the time and the software so GBO now has a brand new CMS or Content Management System.

This CMS offers us a way to bring back all the old GBO content that has been lost and forgotten back on the old GraybeardOutdoors.com domain. All GBO forum members can log in using your GBO username and password as you do on the forums. New members need to register at the forums before they can log into the new CMS.

What is it for and what does it do?

Adds these new features to GBO:
GBO Members Blog: Each GBO Member now has their own "GBO blog"
Stories: Now GBO Members can post a "Campfire Tale" or Story in the Create Content section
Polls: Members can add and vote in new polls on the CMS
Recipes: The New GBO Recipe System... Be sure and share your favorites
Books: Members can create a collection of informaoitn and links "a Book" and share it with the rest of GBO.

I will be adding more features to the CMS as well as a few games for help pass the time.

To access the new CMS goto: www.Go2GBO.com

Sounds interesting.
Will check it out.

While we are on the subject of software, how is spell check coming along?
Sometimes my fingers type/peck faster than my mind works, or is it the other way around!!! :-\  :D

Sure do miss it!

Guys to get spellcheck back is going to take me bringing down the whole server for several hours... This includes all the sites that we host that dont belong to us and it is hard to justify this at this time... It will be back I just have to time it so not to cause too many problems

I have spell check - why does no one else have it? Some times there are words that should be good that do not work like Handi which is red underlined indicating a misspelled word.

Right on LaOtto, and for words like "Handi," one can just add them to the dictionary and then they won't even indicate as being misspelled.

If you use Moxilla Firefox (I do), it has spell check built in the browser.

Thanks LaOtto... Yeah time does fly....

If you use Opera or FireFox both have a built in spellcheck that is as good or better than the one we had... Also the site is designed to work best with those 2 browsers not IE or at least not below IE 7 anyway.

I have to recompile the apache server and PHP to fix the spellcheck issue... this is still and pain to do on a production or live server and will have to take a back seat to the things that are more pressing...

Oh yeah.... Come on guys why are you not using your Blogs...  ;)
