Handi barrels
« on: May 15, 2009, 05:09:49 AM »
OK so I boxed up my handirifle and sent it in for a couple of barrels. I ended up getting a 22 hornet (wanted 357 and 44 mag but out of stock) then I opted to order a 45 LC barrel supposedly had those but now they saying that they don't have those in stock either, so I opted for the 30-30 now there out of those and I asked them what do you have in stock? she told me that she wasn't sure? WHAT THE HECK? She is supposed to check and see what they have in stock, Do you think I will actually hear back from them? we will see.....

should I get 2 hornet barrels and just sell one off or get a refund (money order made out for two or just wait till heck freezes over and leave my rifle there until I actually get what I want. Anyone know if they will just give me a credit or is that to risky?  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

looking for opinions or options?

WOW! That SUCKS! I'm holding off sending in for barrels. They Obviously don't need my money and I don't need the frustration. They better talk Tim out of retirement and have him straighten out their mess. Can you see Tim having control over that many Handis? ::) Probably only a couple more than he has now.

I would like your extra Hornet barrel but don't know that it would fit my frame. Want a 357 also but was waiting. I wonder if they are trying to get all of us to buy an extra frame that we can send in for barrels and don't really care if it takes a couple years to get back. Since there doesn't seem to be very many of us wanting barrels, it isn't profitable for them to get their s#*t together. Dumping my stock for a better managed company. :( I would gladly contribute a cot for Tim at the factory.

It seems their supply and demand is divided. They have to put out whole rifles in different cals and configs to fill a lot of orders, but in the mean time the barrel accessory program has to take a second position. But with all the orders being put priority on whole rifles, we seem to get shorted to what is left over.
Simple solution...make more barrels and put aside a larger alotment for the Barrel Accessory Program.

You could always get the 2 barrels and try traiding them here on the fourm for what you want.

OK we'll send you to the factory with Tim :) I hope we are not smarter than they are. It just seems like this has been going on a while. It probably takes time to get it all together. You'd think they would have researched this a little better. Maybe Joe Biden is running the show. Kinda reminds me of dealing with the Government at times. The conflicting answers they are giving sound like they're from a politician. I better go play with the toys I have before they come to visit.

One of the pitfalls of having the factory in NY and customer service in NC.  :-\

I'm still waiting for answers to several questions from my Remington contact, no replies for over 10 days now.  ???

Another option is to get a 2nd Hornet barrel and have it re-chambered to something else .

I think the best option is to simply deal among ourselves until they get their act together........people are getting very tired of "duh", "Huh", "maybe", "when, I don't know."  Had I known things were going to turn out like this, I'd have ordered more barrels from Gardner.

I have a spare action to send in. Figure out the cost of a used rifle minus barrel and stock (sell them if you don't want them), and an SB2 action ends up maybe $50-75.

or just wait till heck freezes over

As some of you know they have had mine for over 9 months and I am still waiting.  I will wait as long as it takes just to see how long it takes these fools to get their act together.  Each time you talk to a different person you get a different story.  I suspect some of them are bold face lies.  Have any of you ever called CS and had someone picked up the phone immediately.  It always takes about 12 to 13 minutes for someone to pick up the phone when I call. Please don't give me this BS about not calling so they can get more work done.  They have no barrels to install so they have nothing to do but answer the phone.

Ya gotta understand, If they have 500 or a thousand people complaining at them, they're busy.  I thank God every morning I got some of my barrels from Gardner when I did.

I just picked up a frame from my FFL I bought from BowHunter 252.  My newly reamed .357 Maximum barrel married it in wedded bliss.  Locked up tight on a .002 feeler guage.  Shot at the 300 yard gong for laughs and missed.  It's not sighted in yet. I just bore sighted it and busted a milk jug at 35 yards, so I didn't expect more.  Just thought perhaps a miracle would happen.  It'll ring the gong in the morning.

I just feel if you can find what you need here on the classifieds, you're better off.......at least for now.

A special thanks to all of you who made it possible to "recover" my .357 Mag and put the new Max together.  You're a very superior group of people..........not commonly found today.......bless you all.

Pete

A foot note for those of you who are afraid of trying to fit a barrel.  I've done a bunch of them now and have't had a single problem.  They either jumped right on the frame, or took a minor tweak from the FAQs.  Only one required a tweak, and it was very easy.

Pete, good to hear some encouraging news about barrel fitting. I may try it. I bet they are getting A LOT of complaints. I wonder how many people have bought Handis and tried the barrel program that don't visit this forum YET!

I saw the word recover your 357. Did I miss something? Did you get the one back that was stolen? If so GREAT!

No, Big, I didn't get it back.  The good and kind folks here helped me rebuild one and I "stole" another from a candy store at at very good price.  I had one barrel reamed to Max and put the two rifles together as twin sisters.  I haven't gotten to really sight them in because of wind.  The magnum is pretty much there, just needs some fine tuning.  The Max is just bore sighted.  To give you an idea of that, my plastic snow fence that stood all winter blew down yesterday in a sleet storm at 40 - 50 mph.......and it's still going over 30 mph.  Definately not a range day here on Da U.P.

Thank you for your concern.

You don't have to tell me about this wind,,, and rain. I finally got my New Leupold scope and mounted and ready to sight my new 44 mag. today. It's windy here again. I don't worry about the wind AS MUCH with the bigger bullets.

I'm kinda jealous of you with those twins up there. I have a friends new 44 mag in my safe. Keeping it for him for his sons birthday. I should ream it to 445 so I have twins in my house. 8) I have another in layaway for my son. Maybe I'll do that one and have triplets ::) Maybe getting to old for that! NOT!!!

Beltfed I don't think I would try that credit option, sounds like they lose things occasionally. Maybe they have started making something by what eskimo said.
