Heavy barrel 7mm-08 ?
« on: May 10, 2009, 12:52:56 AM »
Savage at one time made the Mdl. 110 Series 'J' Silhouette in 7mm-08 with a 22" heavy barrel (wish I had one)....does Savage still make a heavy barrel 7mm-08 and if so what is the model number ?

Thanks....Ike

I don't think they currently offer one but Savage seems to come out with new offerings from time to time so who knows, might be one in the future. You can also check their current offerings at:

You can always build one. Get a short action Savage, a 10, 11, 14, 16 series, or a Stevens 200 and order a barrel to the contour of your choice. There are several barrel makers that you can order a ready made barrel from. I suspect that for long range silhouette that people have been getting custom barrels and do not buy the heavy 7mm-08. The 7mm-08 is usually considered a light weight rifle offering - a carrying rifle if you will, so most offerings are in lighter weight barrels. Good Luck and Good Shooting
