The only rimfire ammo Farm & Fleet had was .17 HMR. They have a sign the manufacture & distributer are trying to meet demand & appologized for the delay.
Are people stock piling rimfire ammo?

apparently they are. i was at bass pro the other day, the largest sporting goods store within several hundred miles and they were plum out of 22 stuff.im stockpileing it as well. i plan to buy enuf for me and my son for the rest of our lives. screw obama, he aint getting any ammo tax money from me ever if i can help it.

I stopped in Walmart the other day to see if they had any 550 round bulk packs from Federal and lucked into two for $12.37 each.

The guy behind the counter told me he had received 40 packs the evening before and I bought the last two!

Im a reloader so I dont have to pay the ridiculas prices for monarch 7.62x39, 5.56 or 7.62 Nato, I can just reload a bunch since I had the foresight to stock up on a gang or primers and powder. 22 Rimfire on the other hand I cant. And yes I started buying it by the case before everyone ran out when it was about 10.00 a 550 round pack! I cant remeber the last time I saw anything other than some 300 round Winchester for 14.00 a box...Im thinking they got to be high on crack at that price!

And there are some interesting and wierd theories going around as
to why there is a shortage. Of course the person sitting in the oval office
tops the list, but I have been stashing away long before he announced his presidential run.
Rural electrification in 3rd world countries eating up the copper supply
got me started. Attempts to ban lead really got me in gear.
I heard a real winner friday from a local sporting goods store!
Powder that has a 2 year shelf life is being secretly forced into the
ammo making process! that is why the ammo companies are behind
in production! now that is a real winner!

most wal marts I find have the CCI 100 rd and stingers but you'd have to be lucky to find a brick in stock
a sporting goods chain near by had 500 rd winchester 22lr for 19.99!

the gun shop I visit had federal 550 rds for 29.99!!!!
they were pretty dusty

people are for sure stockpiling, Most of my friends that shoot have at least 10,000 rounds
and that is no BS. one has over 20,000 and that is just 22 LR. The move to ban lead in bullets
is advancing far faster than any of the other anti gun hype. If it was not for using lead sinkers in fishing,
it would have been banned long ago in most areas, but they can't ban one without the other
without being real hypocritical. As soon as a substitute is created for fishing weights,
the anti-lead ban will pass so fast it will make your head spin. Look up the lead free (green).22LR
ammo that is already in production and see the cost. That is the reason folks are stockpiling .22lr.
I really believe we are the last generation of real shooters in this country. Within the 8 years that Obama is president, (yes, a second term) it will be too costly to practice much and the shooting sports
will gradually start to die out because of expense. I have said on these forums many times in the past that
the way to get the guns was to cut off the ammo. Here we go. as soon as Obama signs the weapon "proliferation" crap they are talking about because of what is going on in mexico,
importation of ammo into this country will be damaged also. Import taxes will be increased
to where it will no longer be cost effective for companies like Wolf , Hotshot and Privi Partizan to export to the U.S. The U.N. is involved also, and it will be really interesting to see how badly Obama kisses their butts.

I have been buying bricks at Wal Mart in the last month. Reason. Xpert HV is less than $13 for 500 there. My local shop had the same bricks for $33. I don't know what is going on, but I'm buying any time it is 65 percent less than the local shop.

went to gunshow in springfield mo yesterday. biggest most crowded i ever seen. the highest i seen fer 22 bricks was 35 buks, the lowest was sum kind of import crap for 17$ a brick. i shud of got sum im thinkin. yea i shud of.

You guys are driving the price of what you want up. New memberships in NRA are at an all time high, Zero'bama and all politicians have become aware of the numbers of pro-gun Americans. The politics of large numbers is critical to politicians, they are not politically suicidal. Montana, Texas and Tennesee have taken pro intrastate gun political positions with Montana Law providing for the arrest of federal agents at the state line if they break Montana gun law. There is a very stout following of the second amendment with some willing to die to preserve it. Do you think the US will send troops against it's citizens? We've done that once and called it Civil War. When the bottom falls out of this and it will, I'll plan to stock up, cheap.

Hey Guys, Except for the gun shows, rimfire has been hard to find. But in the last few weeks, the local Wal-Marts have had CCI 22lr, and some shorts. Very few boxes of anything else. But what I have seen is, now when wal-mart has any ammo there is a six box limit. I am not sure if the limit is what is causing the stores to keep ammo on the shelves longer or not. Another thing is, I have not seen any centerfire handgun ammo of any kind at wal-mart. And I think the local gun stores know this and they have went up on prices of all ammo. $60.00 for a box of fifty 357 mag. I dont think so. But there are still some good deals on rimfire ammo. Champions Shooters supply [www.championshooters.com] still has a good selection, with good prices. Also if any of you shoot wolf rimfire, just a few days ago Midway USA had it back in stock. Maybe this helps some of you.....Ray

Thank God I have a good supply. I was looking for a .357 carbine to use up a bunch of .38 Special ammo. A police officer friend gave it to me when he switched to a .45. I was just looking for some standard volicity shorts to plink with.

The time for that is past, I really hope you are not waiting for that to happen.
In honesty it is probably too late to start stocking up. If your Idea of stocking up is the same as mine
that is. Many of my friends have 20 or 30 thousand rounds of just .22lr. that is not counting
other calibers.

I don't believe Obama will have a second term, the majority of November 2008 voters in the USA actually believed he would have candy fall from the sky, "Angels would sing", quote by Sen. Clinton, and everything would be great by April, it is not happening and his popularity is dropping. After the next terrorist attack, that should take away the Democrat majority in the house and senate.

So, when the ammo is available again, how are we going to get the guys who stockpiled up way too much ammo to sell it all, pennies on the dollar? Gun shows require a table rental, garage sales are a security issue, selling online can be a problem (building website, credit cards, etc), maybe Greybeard can have some kind of arrangement to help the hoarders unload their overstock.

So in the meantime, if you have tens of thousands of rounds that you will need to get rid of in 4-5 years, take care of it, keep it in a cool dry place, and lets put our heads together and come up with a liquidation plan.

its called free interprize by some .... gouging by others

at least you have a choice to buy or not......others are out of ammo

While my local Wal-Mart was out, my local FFL (who we should be patronizing anyway IMHO) has all sorts of ammo available - and case upon case of Winchester .22LR, of which I bought one (3,300 rounds), plus some Federal .357 158gr JSP's for my M92 levergun.

I finally got a 550 pk of Federal LRHPS last week at walmart, been trying for 3 months. Theres no pistol ammo. I paid $14.47 for it. POWDERMAN.

I know a guy who has been burying ammo in PVC pipe with special caps. I really hope supply catches up with demand. Buy American, at least it helps some guys keep their job. I am thing of getting some extra powder and caps for my muzzle loader, just in case.

I have been trying to find 22 bullets for months with no luck. I finally found a local dealer that had bricks of Federal HP for $22 a brick and I bit the bullet (so to say) and picked up a brick. When I got home I found that the brick only had 400 rounds in it and each box had 40 rather than the customary 50. When has this happened?

I am able to get ammo but it takes special effort. I visit my ammo dealers on a regular basis, (sporting good stores and gun shops) I always have errands to run, then I see a few boxes on the shelves and buy 2-3 of them, no need to hoard. Several of them have limits on how many you can purchase at a stop anyways.

I had to order 2 boxes of 9 MM and one of .38 special from Cabelas, it took over a month, but the 9 mm came a few days ago, the .38 will come mid-June. If you are patient, the ammo is there. The cost is way up though, I will put more time with the pellet and rimfire guns over the centerfire.

Gander Mountain in Peoria seemed to have plenty. I didn't check the prices a bratty kid & his dad pretty well had the isle blocked. Pleant of shotgun ammo to.
