Savage model 220 - Bolt action 20 gauge slug gun new for 2009

I saw on another site that Savage is bringing out a bolt action 20 gauge slug gun.

Thought some of you might be interested.....

Sounds like agreat gun. I am a 110 fan so this is right up my alley.

On the Savage website, it says that it is chambered for 3" shells, does this mean that 2 3/4" are not going to work in that gun?

I recently bought a 210F, they are 12ga, and chambered for 3" slugs.
I haven't shot it yet, but was told you can shoot 2 3/4" slugs but may have trouble feeding them from the magazine.
I also am interested in the 220 if it makes it out by deer season.
Please let me know your experience with these 3" chambered guns.

This would make a great deer rifle...er ah shotgun...for the short range weapon seasons.  I could see picking one of these up.  Can't wait to hear how they shoot, with the accutrigger and some good bedding they should be quite accurate.

I just spoke with Kathy in the sales dept at Savage.  She told me the gun will be available in September, she couldn't give me a specific date, just that they will ship in September.
