Contacted Big Rays and go this response:

"We carry the Norcross brand made in the USA. LaCrosse is importing their now and we just couldn't count on their delivery. Northerner Ankle Fit Hip Boot -  $91.95. "  Uffda on the price!!

Surprised me.  Wonder how long ago I bought my last pair of Lacrosse?  
So I found Cabela's Bargain Cave has some guide model hippers with air bob soles and nylon lining (sounds interesting) for $49.00.  I never heard of Norcross and for half the price - well what the heck.  Plus I have the old Lacrosses patched as well as an insulated pair for back ups.
The nylon lining is supposed to make for easier on and off - plus it shouldn't  rot like the cotton lining of my old Lacrosses. My complaint with the last pair of Cabela's was they were too soft in the ankle to calf portion and wouldn't stand up on their own at all - even with the knee harness on they slid down my skinny legs.  Their softness didn't do well in sharp brush either.

Maybe next spring I'll be able to report on this newer model. May go look at the Norcrosses next time I make it to town.

Sorry, suppose this just adds to the confusion of what's best.

Cabela's discount guide hippers

Received my new hip boots from Cabela's.  Won't be able to really evaluate them until I put a full season on them but for now:

The boot foot and lower leg portions seem pretty sturdy - sturdier than the other Cabelas  pair I tried several years ago.  The air bob soles seem good and I really like the velcro knee harness and nylon inner lining.  The upper portions of the boots seem lighter than Lacrosse boots and I wonder how well they'll stand up to brush and sharp sticks.  The belt straps are permanently attached to the boot - could be a nice touch as I'm always losing the old style straps, if I don't wrap the ends with electrical tape to keep em from feediing thru the buckles.  

I've got thin legs and these fit fine but I wonder if the calf portion of these boots would be too narrow, small diameter for folks with big calve.

Well FWIW hope to give these soem field work this week.

:D I've used some hip boots made by the Servus Rubber Co. If the Northerners are made by them they are good boots. I have big calves and the Lacrosse didn't fit.My Servus boots last several years of trapping and pheasant hunting. 90 bucks is a lot for a pair of hip boots. I went to tall gore tex boots for pheasant hunting now days. As you get older the boots get heavier.
