shiraku 45-70

I have a shiraku 45-70  is that a collectable item ?

do not know much about it    if I have one of those would I need a 45-70 Handi rifle  or is it as good as one?

have a Marlin 1895ss so never shoot the shiaku at all>

any info would be welcome .

The Shikari is a real popular classic original H&R, lots of folks here have them, can't say it's a collectible as lots were made, but it's a 45-70, nothing bad about that at all, it was also made in 44mag. The Shikari has a cast iron frame, so you're limited to trapdoor loads, but most favor that load level anyway.  ;) Use the search for shikari selecting this forum only, you'll get lots of hits.

glad i took some time to ask  was ready to use ammo that I loaded for my marlin

so I will be looking for a 45-70 Handi dandi rifle

so after reading can i stick the barrel on another frame say my 30-06 0r 243 and fire away  or as I like to call it take the brother -in- laws out shooting  ?

Maybe, maybe not, the older the barrel, the bigger the tolerances there were between frames, like other second hand barrels, it may or may not work.
