7x57
« on: April 17, 2009, 03:18:36 PM »
I have the chance to buy a 7x57 Handi. It is at a local shop here in Ky close to my parents. They want $180 for it out the door. They also have several used Handis in 30-06 and 270 for around the same price. Are the 7x57's good shooters? I dont really think I could go wrong on it for that price.

I'd buy it because they are hard to get.

$180 for the complete gun? Run, do not walk back to that gun store and buy it. I have one and thet are GREAT shooters in a GREAT caliber. If you do not want it please send me the name and phone number of that store and I will buy it. I have seen those rare and desireable barrels alone go for more than what they are asking for that gun..So send me the phone number, but in a PM or e-mail please, otherwise someone else may beat me to dialing the number and buying that fine gun!!!....<><.... ;D

If you buy it, and you SHOULD...congratulations on a fine purchase....<><.... :)

Useing rem factory 140gr soft points mine, I should say my youngest ones sence he now clames it, will do about 3/4" three shot group at 100.
My son took two dice doe with it this past season.
Both were one shop, drop in their tracks shots.
The first was around 140 yds and the other was around 180 yds.
I know of another that will do about the same size.
They seem to be good shooters.
Light on the recoil and you get a pretty hard caliber to obtain to boot!
At that price it would be hard to go wrong.
Good deal!

Run, do not walk back to that gun store and buy it.

I second that on either of the 3 calibers you mentioned. It's good to know there are a few good deals like that left. Charlie

Shoot Jon!  I paid $220 for my 7x57 and thought I'd stole it!  Some people offered to buy me any Handi I wanted and money to boot if I'd sell it to them!

Find me one in 30/30 for that price!   ;)

Oops!  :o  Sorry Jon...  :-[  It was late, I'd been working on shim stock since 6 or so...   :P
