H&R receiver questions

Hello,
  I just bought a new H&R Ultra Varmint .243.  It appears as if there's a new pin installed in the receiver that I have never seen before on older(post-87) rifle(SB1) actions.  Anyone know if this is another reinforcing bolt, or what?
