I know there are some out there who put thos AR type stocks and rail clusters all over their shotguns, and Handi rifles, but to me it's kind of like putting chrome wheels on a farm tractor.

You can do all that stuff but it is what it is, and to each his own I guess.

Hope you don't take that wrong, because my tacticool is an SKS with a T6 stock and 20 round Tapco mag that I use when I want to play some rock and roll!

My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Well Doug I define tacticool as having no tactical worth other than looking like it does. As a veteran of OIF I and OIF II with being shy of a decade of service time at 28 i think i understand very well. I am now medically retired thanks to my last stint. I take it by the tone you were talking down to me and like i was some punk trying to look cool. So calm down and learn not to take every so serious. Now with that out of the way the reason i was asking was I have a younger brother (15) that is very into the military and wants to join when he graduates. He has a couple of rifles and i wanted to get him something affordable and yet fits what he is into for his birthday. I hope that answers everyones questions enough that I can actually see some, and not just people being critical of my post..... as i understand it.  ::)

From your original post, not a living soul who is not an accomplished mind reader could have deduced what you were getting at.   To me "TACTICOOL" conjures up a 14 year old World Of Warcraft Mall Ninja hanging crap all over an otherwise useful little single shot rifle to the point of absurdity, not unlike putting  a hundred and fifty bucks worth of lipstick, glittery eye shadow and lingerie on a hamster.   

Getting your knickers all wadded up over a simple, honest question about a word three other people have ever heard is just plain silly.

Well Iam sorry that i was so confusing with my post. I figured since I typed the word in all caps and spelled in a way referencing the meaning that the  mind reading device could have been left at home. That is my fault. But if you dont understand something or think you are about to put someone in there place with a grow up kid. the person doesnt have to smug about it. thats the way i took it. if i was wrong well i was wrong but there are many ways to say that with out sounding so pampas.

i dont understand what yall aren't getting that it isn't supposed to be something that you raid a house with. IT WOULD BE JUST FOR LOOKS. KINDA LIKE ALOT OF THESES GUNS ON HERE THAT HAVE A TELESCOPES ON THEM AND CANT  HIT A BARN.

Don't give up yet, different strokes, ya know!!  ;) Check out the FAQs and Help sticky link titled "Let's see some Handis", there's 7 or 8 pages of pics, I think there are some pics of the ATI stock in there, if not use the search for ATI shotforce, it's kinda toy-like from most reports, but it fits your definition of "tacticool", it looks it.

 I feel ya ... if you want to see what the T6 type ar fore arm stocks look like then go to ATI's website ( advanced technology inc.)

 Now if you wanted to see some of the MAD tinkerers designs i.e. Custom done up stocks and other wise decked out handis , these guys can help you there ... no shortage of customized handis here .. but as of this point the only ones i know of other then myself that have bought the "AR" type ATI stocks for there handis is a very small group of dads here that bought them for the considerable change in length of pull for younger shooters

 The caliber ended up having to much recoil for the girls and the powder charge for the caliber wasnt versitile enough to change the recoil factor for them ..

 So it went in trade for a 44mag that i figure would serve them better ...

 This is pretty much what mine looked like below minus the heat shield and a AIMPOINT in place of the scope , and no bi-pod

I agree no harm done just misunderstanding.
There are a few things I have thought about doing and a few I have done before that ended up looking a little tactical. I have a Survivor stock set that I cut the forearm down to about 4' or so and remounted the sling stud on the very end and another as close to the hing point. It folds up close and tight and is very compact. Sorry I believe the pics of it have been deleted.
There are other ways of attaching picatiny rails( or weaver for that  point)  to the forearm and use of small flashlights and handgun lasers. Wish I had pics to share but as of now I am in cog.

Wow.  Interesting thread.  Not the usual I'm used to.  Here is a pic of what I did for my son.  As Default said Dad's trying to get the length of pull smaller.  Aslo kind of toyish but very useful for my application.  I can shoot it, and while I hand it to my son shorten the length of pull and let him load and shoot.  I had my doubts, and even had to fix it, but still like its use.  The forearm has proved very accurate on a couple of barrels I've mounted to it.  The kids DO think it looks cool.  I see it as functionable.

I don't know.  I think Handi's can BE tactical...sorta...depending on your "tactics."  I have a 7.62x39 Handi that I just had cut to 16.25", threaded and will eventually wear a suppressor, as soon as the ATF approves my paperwork.  Everything else is bone stock though, and it doesn't LOOK particularly "TACTIKEWL" with just the thread protector on.   I've seen .357 Handi's setup similarly using 9mm suppressors...but I don't think that's really what you're looking for.  I think it would be awesome to file a Form 1 to register a SB2 receiver as a short barrel rifle, then you could put a barrel of ANY length on it.  Think .357 or .44mag cut to 9" and threaded for a suppressor. REAL quiet with .38Special or .44 Special.  But that's just my 2 cents.

rinfire, out here not to many are interested in single shots mostly bolt and semi autos. i have grown to like the T/Cs and now have  a few NEFs.  Most have 3x9 up to 6x20 scopes and the hunters are camo either factory or camo taped. I have them with sling studs so I can mount a small bipod. Most are stainless/composite stocks and 223 seems to be the most popular caliber with  factory and surplus ammo available. i like the 243 as it has more punch and been a great deer gun. with some practice you can reoad the nefs as fast as most can work a bolt.
any time any of us can spend time and teach a new hunter or marksman is a bonus. a single shot is a perfect starter rifle and usually the first rifle is the most remembered and one to keep for life. keep us posted

Rimfiresniper I got just the picture for you. I'll bump it up in the classifieds. Just so happens it is still availible maybe just the ticket for your brother. Put a Telescope on it and I will gaurenteee it will hit the broad side of the barn. Find the right barn and you could just shoot the nails in tighter. Sort of plain Jane 17HMR but you and your brother could finish dressing it up any way you want. Let me Know. Kurt

BTW they are cheap to shoot and all the H&R 17hmr's shoot MOG or MOC minute of Gopher or minute of Chipmonk depending what part of the country your in ;D

don't have any pictures but there is a Purdy break open single shot that found its way into the trenches of WW1 and was used as a sniper rifle with great success . It hangs in the mess hall of the group that carried it . I read about it in an article about Purdy and what they refinished and how. They refused to refinish it but inspected and put in top mech. order for free . Said the rifle had such a service record it would not be right to remove the scars it earned in battle . So it seems in some places single shot , break open and tatical do go hand in hand .
But to understand it one must have an open mind !

I'm not sure if this qualifys but I think it looks cool and it shoots itty bitty groups.
Has a bigger better scope now. Swift 4.5-14 premier. ;D.

It's funny snipers only need one shot but they won't carry a single shot rifle.
