« on: April 12, 2009, 01:43:15 PM »
Have any of you used a bipod on your handi ? Or are the forends to touchy  for a bipod to work?

Generally a forend mounted bi-pod will cause accuracy problems with the handi rifle.  Some have found ways around it and shoot well with one. Best to just try it and see how yours does.

I have a couple set up to use bipods on .I never had any real problem with them on the bench with a bipod but in the field felt it was effecting accuracy some although it could of been a thousand other things that you deal with while hunkered down on a fence row calling varmints. What I did to make me feel better was bed the forearm to the bbl don't know that it helped but it made me feel better at the time. Kurt

My Ultra Varmint .223 had no trouble with the bipod on the forend. Good accuracy, good groups. Factory or handload.

When I switched from the standard wood forend to the choate varmint forend, all of my bipod problems went away.
It's all a hot mess...........

First, I put all my Handi barrels on dedicated frames.  Second, I put them all on synthetic stocks.  Why?  Because they don't scuff and scratch, ding or dent.  I can load shot in the stock to reduce recoil to when and where I want it.  The barrel contact is not a variable.  I guess I'd hang a bipod on any of them, but I really don't see a need to.  Bipod shooting isn't something we really do around here.  Unless you want to try it in two feet of snow.
