Just want to see how many of you have 4X4's. Me and my family only have 4X4's. I have a 2002 Dodge Ram and a 1992 Ford Explorer, my wife has a 2000 Olds Bravada, my daughter has a 2001 Grand Cherokee and my son a 1996 Dodge Ram. Like I said only 4X4's in my family.

You mean they make vehicles that don't have 4x4? Wow, what a novel idea. I'll bet those would do great on paved roads. In nice weather. If there are no ruts or pot holes. :-D

I have a '92 Bronco (my third Bronco) and an '86 F150 both are 4x4. I do have an '88 Olds Firenza I picked up from a friend back when Matt needed a car to drive but it doesn't even have a current tag and hasn't been moved in well over a year. Sucker hasn't got 70K on it yet I don't think unless Matt drove it more than I realized when he had it.

Well, I got 2 of em. A 1989 jeep cherokee and my red neck special 1980 F250 which I painted camo ( hides the rust well ) with one of those cheep back window gun racks.
When I pull into a gas station everyone moves their CAR to the pumps on the other side of the station ! I just dont understand?

I have and wheel an 02 Chevy ZR2 extended cab...my second ZR2, IMHO a great truck.

Had plans to sell it and get a p/u, just couldn't do it!

D/L rear, T/T front, high performance carburated 4.3 GM(bored 40 over), H/C pistons, cammed, 350 AT
Besides, the wife is giving her 98 Grand Cherokee our oldest in May. She want to get a 4dr 4x4 p/u. So that solves my P/U problem :-D

I'm the proud owner of a 1989 Chevy Scottsdale 1/2 ton 4X4 truck.
I bought it with no carpeting, manual windows. The only extras were a nice stereo and air conditioning. Over the years, I has taken me wherever I've asked it to take me into or out of, including a few areas where the other occupant has decided to "volunteer" to get out and guide me so I won't go off a cliff. My dear truck's paint is just about gone from the roof, there are dents on the sides and undersides of the body, the paint is down to bare metal in some areas from "squeezing" through brush ans in-between trees (Arizona Pinstripes).

With 106K miles, I've had to replace the seals on the tranny and transfer case, but nothing major, other than a new starter, shocks and about 5 batteries, since in the hot desert you "lease" them - they will not last for more than 3 years. I am debating whether to sink about $5K in body work, and another 2K for an engine overhaul when the time comes, or to get my hands on a Ford Crew-Cab 4X4, now that I like in Wisconsin and don't need to do too much climbing to get to good hunting areas. Anny recommendations?

Ford F-150, 2000 off road version, great for hauling deer out of the woods.Its the Lariat version, bought it used with 6800 miles on it saved about 6K off dealers price.

Used to have a 1992 F-150 4x4 that I traded in for a 2WD Explorer in 1998 since we thought we were going to have a child then and it would make a better baby hauler. That didn't end up happening and I was stuck with the Explorer till 2001. Other (paid off) vehicle got totalled by a drunk driver parked in front of my house one night (he got away somehow?) So I bought myself a 2002 4.0L Ranger XLT 4x4 Extend Cab. Traded the Explorer and bought the wife a 2003 Taurus SES to haul the kids we have now. My daughter is just old enough to ride in the rear jump seat on the truck, she always asks if we can take "little truck" instead of the car whenever we go somewhere

I love this thing, it's narrower than my old F-150 and it's gotten me out of some pretty rough areas I've put it in. I too believe that a truck is meant to be used and get dirty as much as possible :grin:

Say Rick,, we may be related, my folks came from your part of the world
and they never told a lie that i know of,
I was cool when the rest of the people were driving two wheeled rigs,
bought my first 4+4 when i came back from korea in 1954, every rig that i have owned has been 4+4, i'm on my 36th 4+4,, i have a full sized bronco and a ford ranger, and a older army jeep, the only time i drive on pavement is on the way to dirt, i do a lot of hunting and calling yotes. i do
love to shoot sod poodles,,oh darn PITA may be watching this, oh well,!!!

I have a Chevy Z71 and the wife has a jeep 4x4. We bought our first 4x4 in 1970 and have not been without since. The best hunting rig was a 1970 Land Cruiser J40. At times it was crowded with bucks on the roof rack and in the back with a couple of hunters. But a bigger rig would have not made it there.

The ZR 2 was a retirement present. It's used to hunt and fish the S.Western four counties in our state, the four opposing counties in Kentucky and the low country of SC. For forty years I got by with a regular 2 wheel drive and a wench. In my old age I just got tired of doing it the hard way.
Up until my retirement I was a high mileage driver, over 45,000 miles a year and it just did not make a lot of sense for me to put that kind of mileage on a 4 x 4 truck that I traded in every 3 years. I have had super luck with chev S-10's, six new ones since 1985 and they have all been winners. I did tear the transmission out of two of them pulling boats and a 1000 lb gun safe through the mountains to Charleston SC. The ZR 2 looks terrible right now but I'm not going to do anything to it since this week end is the end of bow season in KY and I still have a tag, I might clean it up after I get my ladder stands in and stop hunting rabbits, sometime right before turkey season or before I fish Toledo Bend in March.

I drive a 2002 Chevy Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1L V-8 -- loads of power. :grin: I use it as the fancy truck when we need to haul/tow or just travel. My daily driver is a 2003 Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0L and AOD tranny.

For farm use I have a 4X4 Kawasaki Mule and plan to purchase a 4X4 tractor within the next month.

My son has a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge 4X4.

I wheel ALOT!! Not harcore mind ya but I take every unmarked road /trail I find, just to stick her into 4WD and get her dirty. :wink:

Lets see, 2 wheel drive, we have an '88 DeVille, & '98 VW Beetle.

4 wheel drive vehicles we have a 1989 Chevy Suburban Sliverado 4x4, 350 auto, 80k original miles, Runs rough, first $1000 takes it.

And my 2 babys 1982 CJ7 That I bought new, and a 1946 Willys CJ2A.

Going to be buying a New 4x4 this summer to replace the Burb.

I have a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 6 cyl. 5 speed with 154K miles on it and it has never been in the shop for repairs. Correction the only time it was in repairs was hitting a 175 lb deer at 65 mph. It runs great. The only color it has on most of the time is mud color. The only time I ever got this truck stuck, I ended up crawling out the drivers window to get out. I had Fords and Chevy before. The Fords were in the shop more times getting fixed than I was in the mud holes. The Chevy's faired better
