SSK 6.5JDJ gets new finish!
« on: April 04, 2009, 09:12:50 AM »
I made this set some time back but the satin finish just didnt bring the color of the wood out. With the new gloss finish it jumps out.

Great looking job Dave, as usual.  What part of WV are you from ?  Just outside Charleston here.

Great looking hunting rig.
The only thing you should feel when shooting insurgents is recoil.

Semi-OT question: how do you like the 6.5 JDJ? I've heard that it's great, but I've never known anyone who used one. Any regrets on the caliber choice?

No regrets at all. I have the one above plus another in a Tender rifle with a 20" barrel. Both are extremely accurate and deadly on deer with Nosler 120gr. B-Tips. Fireforming is a breeze and recoil very light. The 225Win. brass can at times be hard to find, but with over 1200 pcs. put away I dont think Ill have a problem there.
