About that New Turkey Gun I was considering?
« on: March 29, 2009, 12:39:10 PM »
Never mind. I have found the secret to this little Mossberg 500 tactical turkey gun. It does not shoot well with a real tight choke. But with a .670 or looser choke it really improves. Sorry I couldn't get all of this target in the screen of my scanner but it was too big. It is actually a pistol target that is slightly under 10 iches so any pellet within 1/8 of an inch of the outside line is still inside 10 inches. Not a perfect day for patterning as it was a bit windy. May shoot it again on a calmer day. Shell used was a Winchester Elite number 6. Shot distance was 40 yards. 131 pellets in a 10 inch circle. Nothing that would raise an eyebrow with competetion shooters but all I want is a good turkey killing pattern. And compared to the 54 to 60 pellets I was getting up to now I'm thrilled with this.

I'm convinced! :D

And as I mentioned in another post, you could always try another barrel on that Mossburg! They're a lot cheaper than a new gun!!! But at this point I think you got a good one already! 8)
