Arkansas Hog Hunting
« on: March 23, 2009, 03:15:05 PM »
I have never been hog hunting but I would really like to try it. I.m in Faulkner County and am wondering if there are any hogs close.
I've talked with the game warden around Petit Jean and he said there were hogs in the bottoms but it's all private land.
Anyone with a lead I could pursue would be great.

There is an Arkansas Hunting site on the net. Great bunch of people there. You would probably get some info from the locals on that site.

Will36 tell us about them hogs. I have 150 acres in Logan county and have not seen a hog here since I moved here 3 yrs ago. Hunted them for many years in Fla. Sure do miss that sweet smoked pork.
A bad day hunting is better than a good day workin !

potlatch timber owns 1000's of acres in  cleveland, bradley and dallas county the saline river runs thru the counties. Some guys who lease the land to hunt from potlatch released 1000's of hogs one guy in Bradley county released over 500 in 3 years.  Potlatch wants them gone. As you may know they eat and move a lot at night. I have 89 acres on the river in Cleveland county. Its hit and miss you can see signs of them everywhere. I dont have a hog dog anymore and you need several. The next time they have a big drive/hunt here Ill try to post a heads up.  you will need a 4 wheeler for sure.

My place is like I said hit and miss I have went 3 or 4 time not killing a single hog. 2 years ago I killed 4 on one trip out just walking thru the woods.

Now if you guys want to get together and try to walk up a hog Im game . I just cant say YES we will kill one. You will get your exercise for sure. hahaha

Will is right there ,

They can be hard to track down for sure ... Thou i had a old timer tell me to sour feed corn and place it in the area where the hogs are believed to be ... this will keep them coming back on a regular basis as long as the corn keeps showing up ... It being soured corn nothing but the hogs will show interest ..

I Love hunting hogs more and more ... Think i would rather hunt the pork then anything else we have here in AR .. Ok well maybe not Elk .. but the hog is up there.

Another place to look into would be Fort Chaffee in Fort Smith , They threw out a SOS last deer season for hunters to come get into the large pig population they have there..
Been flirting with taking a drive down there some time here in the near future..

And if you boys want to converge on a pig spot for a drive ? Count me in , Just let us know in advance ..
