Nother yoddler down with the custom .223
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:23:27 PM »
Nailed a small male at 200 yards while he was walking this evening with the custom .223 Ultra Varmint. Don't have any pics yet as my hunting partner was late for dinner (my fault). hopefully get a field shot in the mornin.

I do have a field pic of a double that was taken a little bit back. Chek out the monster male on the left side of this pic. These were both taken from the same farm I got my small male tonight. i saw another that I did not get a shot at and we howled in a pack that got there just after shooting light. Very exciting evening.

Nice going, once again!
Man that male looks like he might have some wolf in him with that wide muzzle and big head.
Keep em' coming.

Myarmour, I was using winchester FMJs to break the gun in but my local shop ran out of them. I grabbed some Remington 55gr FMJ and found they flew fantastic so I took them hunting with me. The full metal jacket rounds do very little damage to the hide going in or out which is nice. The only downside to them compared to an expanding or exploding type round is you have to get into the vitals to kill em real quick. Seems to be working ok for me right now. My last four yotes were taken with FMJs.

I have done a lot of work floating and bedding my barrel. I have shimmed a little here and a little there to get the action straight and snug.
