Irish Setter Boots
« on: September 03, 2003, 02:14:12 PM »
Just wondering if anyone out there wears any Irish Setter boots for hunting in the North?  Thinking about picking up a pair (after 10 years, my old Kodiaks are finished) and was hoping to get some opinions.  They're not cheap, so before I put out the bucks, I'd like to know if you think they're worth the cost.

Thanks,

Bluenose

I wore Irish Setters for years when I was a meter reader for the gas utility that I work for.  They were excellent.  Very comfortable and no blisters when walking miles a day, in all kinds of weather.  These days for hiking etc  I probably would go with Danner hiking boots.  About the same price and I think you will get a lot better traction etc...

i work at SIR mail order here in the 'peg and asked this question at work. all the feedback i got was that these are excellent boots and are well worth the high price.

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended up picking up a pair of Irish Setters at Lebarons on my way to southern Ontario this past weekend.  I did check Danner, but the boots I bought were the only ones that really fit me right that were within my price range.  I love them (in fact I'm wearing them right now-I'm a little excited for hunting season), but the true test will be moose and deer season when I put them through their paces.  Only a few more weeks until moose opens!
