would like to know if the stevens 200 are centerfeed or staggerd is there a difference in mod. with the gray or black as far as year mod. THANKS

Some are center feed and some are stagger feed, just depends on when they were built.  They used up the stagger feed mags on the stevens after Savage went to the center feed, so you will just have to look to see which one you have.  Nothing wrong with the stagger feed, plus it is easier to find replacement stocks for them.  Larry

Mine"s center feed, but it's fairly recent production, less than 1 year old.

Since we are talking the Stevens 200, I also have a question.  Is the trigger adjustable?  Or can it be changed out to something a little smoother and lighter?

There are ways to lighten the trigger of a Stevens 200. I did not try them however. I got a Rifle Basix trigger and adjusted it to a nice 1.5 pound pull. I think it was about $80. Sharp shooters Supply sell their own brand and they have a good reputation.

Yes you can adjust the trigger. Just do a search and you should find it, pictures and all. I did mine and like it now.

The SharpShooter Supply trigger exclusively for Savage/Stevens rifles is the greatest thing since sliced bread IMHO. I have six of them in my rifles. Two to replace Accutriggers.

The early 200 were staggered later they changed the stock slightly and made them center feed.  Yes the triggers are adjustable and can be adjusted to be excellent triggers.

The factory tupperware stock is the weak point no matter what model you have.  Good thing is that if you have the coin Bell & Carlson, Stockade, and McMillan all make stocks for either model, although I'm not sure on the B&C for the long action yet.

For the money spent though you are hard-pressed to find a better bargain for the money on a rifle.

I bought mine in 243 win. and then bought a factory 308 brl and a 358 brl and soon I might get a 338 federal brl. All are easy to change and all can be headspaced with the same go no go headspace guage. At half the cost of a Remington or Ruger the Stevens 200 is the best bang for the dollar. That is one of my favorite things with this rifle is I can mount it on my ATV and not worry about scratching, bending or breaking it as almost everything( not the action) can be fixed or replaced fairly cheap and I can do it myself.

 i can tell from what you guys sayin the stevens would have been as far as id have gone ,,looking for a gun that suited me.. i got the savage but from what you guys say ,its same gun..they one heckofa bargain an gun..im sure they are a thorn in the side of some of these other major rifle makers..slim
