I have a 20 gauge slug in my hands. It measures .576 Dia.
Lee makes a .58 caliber Modern Minnie Mould that drops a .575
Diameter bullet.
Anybody tried loading their own slug rounds using this mould?

I have thought about the same thing myself. One would have to concider the weight but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Lee also makes a slug mold, so why not buy that instead? I would like to hear if anybody has used the .58 cal just the same.

Oh!....I thought of something after my last post..... A mini is a lot thicker in the nose section than a slug and it might cause a problem going through any type of choke restriction. Slugs are about the same thickness all the way from nose to skirt base. Might want to stick the buttstock in an old tire and touch it off with a string from behind a tree the first couple of times....LOL..

The 20ga slug you have needs a sabot as the full bore Dixie 20ga slugs I use measure around .620 so you could use your .58 mold as long as you properly sized the sabot. Kurt
