Hi arc Lite!

I have a Sako M579 too.  Got it as a re-barreled action.

Flaig is/or WAS a semi-custom gunshop in Pennsylvania, I believe.

They did a lot of re-barreling for Mauser M98 actions, and sold complete rifles and barreled actions too.

Your Flaig-barreled Sako 579 indicates that either they, or someone later, fitted a Flaig barrel to your action.  The Sako M579 barrel shank is very different from that of the M98 Mauser, so it was a semi-custom barrel fit.

You can see their advertisements in 1960's and '70's The American Rifleman.

Hey, Arc Lite!

There is a listing for Flaig's Guns, Incorporated at 2200 Evergreen Rd, Pittsburg, PA 15209  (412) 821-1717.

Surprised me too... but apprently they are still in business!  If your barrel has a serial number, maybe they can tell you when your action was fitted, or the manufacture date.

Hay, thanks to both of you for the reply, I'm going to try to contact Flag's and find out a little more about this rifle. ARC LITE :D

I live 1 mile from where Flaigs used to be. They are no longer in business. Flaigs did high quality work and they will be missed. You have a top quality custom gun. Good luck with it......

Tim is right. Flaigs did good work and, to the best of my knowledge, use primarily Douglas barrels for their shop. You should have a good accurate rifle.
