45-70 for under $200
« on: February 26, 2009, 01:23:48 AM »
I was in a shop yesterday and I saw a synthetic Handi in 45-70 for $195.  I can't get it outof my head.  I don't really need it and I don't need to spend the money right now, but it's an adiction.

Well, what do you say?  Egg me on to buy it?  Or tell me that it's not that good a deal so I should  just pass it by.

If you don't have a .45-70, you NEED one.  Buy it ;)

I like the synthetic stock.  I put 36 ounces of #4 shot in a sock in the stock of my Handi .45-70, and it really eats up recoil.  Also, the rifle slings better with the stock weighted.  It's not always wanting to tip over on you.

I would go back and have the money in my pocket, but try haggling with the the guy, like "man I bet that thing will beat you to death with that plastic stock" and you might just get it cheaper than that.

My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

If you are still unsure about purchasing it, just give me the location of the store and you can meet me there.  I will gladly show how easy it is for me to purchase a <$200 45/70 Handi! :)

Then the next time you find one you won't have to worry about the process ;D

In Norfolk they had a gun buy back for $50 a peice.  I went to a pawn shop and bought 10 little .25 ravens for $35.00 each.
I was in College at the time and traded in the 10 $35 guns in for $500 worth of grocery store bucks.
Bought beer with it for a party and had the Rugby house reimburse me for the beer.
The court deemed the buy back illegal and I had a Norfolk police officer at my door with the same brown bag with the 10 guns. Asked me to sign here and gave me the 10 guns back.
I went to the Pawn shop and sold them back for $15 -18 each and that is how the anti gun people funded multiple beer kegs.

Actually it was a private group ( MADD or HCI)that did it in conjunction with the Norfolk police.

It will be a day or two until I can get back to the store and buy it.  If I talk myself out of it I will post the store's name and number.

For under $200 I would give them a call and make sure they still have it and to put it aside for you.  Other wise somebody else may have already snatched it up.  Don't know how many deals I have lost by leaving 10 min before closing and calling at the opening of the store to have it gone.
