Puma 92 slings or scabbords?

I was wondering if any of you use a sling on your Puma 92 or similar rifles.

I was trying to think about what would be the most comfotable way to carry the rifle over a long distance.  I love the way the rifle looks without the sling, but slings are pretty handy.  I think I've seen in western movies where the guys had some kind of rig to put them into a scabbord carried over a shoulder but I'm nto really sure how to describe it. 

Anyone fit anything up for there 92 rifle to make carrying it on long trips mroe comfortable.

I've always wanted to make a scabbord for one also...I know Eblerstock (not sure of spelling) makes a backpack style rifle carrier that might give you a few ideas.  I just don't like the looks of a sling on a lever.

I know the packs you're talking about.  http://www.eberlestock.com/  They look like they'd be the ticket for a long hike/camping/hunting trip.

I saw a neat thing the other day called the "MOLLE Shotgun Scabbard".  Google that and it seems like something I could just throw over a shoulder and take off with, plus you could put a compass, water, whatever on it.

For whatever reason I like the sling on my Marlin 336, but I don't think it'll look right on my 92.  I've thought about buying a cheapo leather scabbard and making a shoulder harness for it, but it just seems like I'd be reinventing the wheel.

Thought of doing the same thing. Saw some $30 scabbards on Ebay, but havent done it yet.

I need to update this thread anyway and you have the same idea I had.  I bought one of the Molle shotgun scabbards off of Ebay for around $30.  Those scabbards are made for an 870 shotgun they say, but my puma 92 fit it like a glove!  I'll try to remember to take a picture of it tonight and post it.  The setup is sweet and the scabbard is surprisingly good quality for the price.

Does anyone know if you have to use this scabbard on the Molle vest?  I'm not familiar with the MOLLE system, we had the ALICE packs when I was in.  I sure hope MOLLE is nicer to our troops than ALICE was!

The molle scabbard I bought is basically a mediocre quailty/cheapo type.  It's more than good enough for what I'll ever use it for, but it doens't have to be used with any other molle system.  As far as I can tell, the molle stuff is just a different design, and then there's places to attach anything you could ever want, anywhere you'd ever want it.  The scabbard comes with a shoulder strap and I plan on using it all by itself.

Sounds like a great idea.  Especially for those times when you need both hands free.  I'm thinking it would work great when running a trapline, etc.

I should have gotten the pictures up sooner.  There is a fair amount of padding that protects the gun.  It's more than just thin fabric and the scabbard as a whole is fairly stiff.  For the price I didn't expect it to be as good as it is.

I've had for many years now, a scabbbard made by Bowmans Harness Shop of Shipsshewana, Indiana. It is made of 10 oz. vegetable tanned leather. It's definitly top shelf and has served me well for many years.
I could not find an e-mail addy for them, so maybe they're still in business or not. It holds and protects my Winny trapper and my EMF 92 in grand style and it makes my arms available at will.
Both of my lever guns have saddle rings and I make use of them by use of a strap that goes around my neck that hangs just short of my pants belt. This "sling" has a heavy nylon snap that snaps into the saddle ring and support my shooters very conveniently.
