« on: February 14, 2009, 05:03:56 AM »
iNTERESTED IN GETTING A 410 BARREL FOR MY g2 CARBINE. Has anyone had experience with 16" or longer barrels. I would be useing it for snakes and such. Most shots would be 30 yards or less. Thanks Rod

rod, I believe TC lists a 410 VR barrel for the contender/G2 frames. 24" length I believe. You could call the custom shop and inquire about other lengths. 1-800-243-4570 is the number. Regards

Snakes at 30 yards?   I'll bite my tongue on that one.   ::)

If you really want it for snakes, a 10" pistol barrel is plenty long.   If you want it as a shotgun for game for the cook pot the 21" or 23" is the ticket.

The .410 barrels from the Classic Contender frame days will work on the G2, so that gives you the barrel length options you want with factory barrels instead of having to buy custom.

The 21" VR barrels are smooth bore with a removeable full choke.

The Super 16" VR barrels are 45/410, so do have rifling and a removeable full choke just like the 10" VR and 10" bull.

I've had several over the years (10" VR 45/410, 10" Bull 45/410 and 21" VR).   Only ones I liked and found to be really useable though as shotguns beyond PBR was the 21" smooth bores.

YMMV

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

My son picked up a new 21 inch vent rib smooth bore from ed last year and loves it and at 25 yards it gives a very good pattern.

410 will be no problem on a G2. I have a 28ga T/C Custom barrel on my G2.
Haven't shot any snakes with it   ;D  but it sure has put alot of rabbits on the table.
