Barrel rebore to 41 cal
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:10:01 AM »
I do not know if this is a truly new topic, but here goes.  I sold my Marlin 1894 41 maggie (many kicks in my own butt - you just can't find the darn things now)  :'(.  I have plenty of 41 magnum ammo left over because I was not handloading when I bought the gun and stocked way up at sale times on ammo.  It is driving me crazy not being able to shoot the stuff.  I know that I can still get an encore or contender barrel in 41 magnum - but that is the expensive route.  Does anyone know of anyone who rebores/rechambers the Handi 357 to 41 magnum?  I am currently having Wayne York rebore an old Rem 760 to 338, but he does not list 41 caliber as one that he has the equipment to do.  Any suggestions?

Rich

It has been talked of before. I had an intrest in just such an animal a couple of yrs ago. Just to darn expensive to do...for me anyway. I would use a bbl other than the harder to get 357mag though. Since I bought my 45Colt H&R I have long since gotten over the itch. I still have the 41 ammo and keep one eye open for a Taurus all titanium in 41 mag but the rifle itch don't scratch much any more. Sorry can't help with where to get it done .But when and if you do let us know. Kurt

Have any way to contact Wayne York.  Phone, web page, email  looking for someone to do a rebore on my 760 and maybe a lever

Here is Wayne's email.  He is very responsive.  Drop him a line to tell him what you want done.  He is pretty busy, but his prices for cut rifling and chambering are relatively inexpensive (as these things go).  Others on GBO have reported that he does good work.

Rich,

Ask Wayne to do a stub for ya, he did my 6.5x55 with a donor 300WSM experimental barrel for the stub and a Shilen 6.5 match blank, cost about the same as a rebore which he's done two for me, and several rechambers. ;)
