Range Rpt: .223 Handi using Wolf steel case ammo
« on: February 09, 2009, 06:18:06 AM »
I have a .223 bull barrel for my Handi Survivor.  I had just changed barrels and went to sight in.
I have got it to shoot under 1moa by following tips from Mr. Quick and friends (thank you very much)
I shot it using some 55 gr. sp loaded by a friend and it was right on.
I had some Wolf steel 55gr fmj and some Wolf 62gr fmj.
From cool barrel the Wolf 55gr shot 2" left and 1.5" low.  The 62gr shot 2" Right and 1" high!

I also had my Mini 14 and have got it to shoot about 2.5moa with some military stuff and it shot even more erratic than the Handi.

Now I have some Wolf Gold brass case in 8mm and .308 that shoots pretty good, but I will never purchase any steel case ammo again.

The steel case ammo is excellent for what it was made for and Handie rifle aint it. Box magazines and autoloaders is where it belongs where a large group dosn't matter so much, An 8" group is still in the center mass. My CZ don't get any steel cased 7.62x39 but my SKS eats a lot of it. 8)

+1

I get sub MOA groups from Wolf steel case ammo if I use it in my AR.  If I use Wolf in the Handi, all I get are stuck cases and misfires from the hard primers.  Quality ammo makes a night and day difference when it comes to the Handi's, and time spent reloading really pays off.  I think it's the best way to make one of these rifles shoot well.
