22Hornet gets a face lift!!
« on: February 08, 2009, 01:27:01 PM »
I just started Turkey hunting two seasons ago. In the last two season I have taken three globblers using this Encore in 22Hornet. The biggest went 25lbs.

This is the third set of wood for the Hornet. I built this set from Claro Walnut. As pretty as it turned out next season the gobblers will line up begging to be shot with it. :D :o ;D

TC, Nice Hornet. ;D Do you hand load for it??? I shot several gobblers with my Browning Hornet. It is one neat caliber. I used to shoot fox squirrel with mine on the east coast. It is one of the nicest calibers for small game and varmit around. Nice to see some one who under stands the skill it takes to bag a gobbler with a rifled barrel over a scatter gun. :D ;)

Yes I load for it, LiLGun powder and Hornady 40gr. VMax work wonders for me. The above pic was my first effort at Turkey hunting, lucky I guess. Last season I took two with the same pistol, the biggest went 25LBS. Season opens in a couple weeks, hope to bag a couple more!

:) Good luck.  :D ;) :) We will be going for gobbles soon, but have been held up due to a new kitchen, AND very heavy snow in the mountains, has made getting around about impossible. >:( ;)
