nef handis

i have 2 handis. one 223 ultra and 243 standard. my question do all have long throats? just wondering about loading for them. by the way great rifle i think i've had them for years. thanks for any info.

That is something you will have to check yourself. Their is a good read in the FAQ's on how to make a gauge to check this. Lots of must know info in the FAQ's. Welcome

Welcome dj!! In general, most H&R chamberings have long throats, but not all do, as Troy said, you'll just have to check yours with the bullet you want to load. If you can't get close to the lands, it's best to just load to recommended COL and shoot them, that's always worked best in long throated rifles.

thanks for info. been reloading 2 weeks and going nuts trying to get the groups i want. maybe i'm asking to much of my handis. i've talked to folkes that say the handi's are capable of doing great group's. just takes time i guess. :( >:(

4 out of 5 of mine do. Have you tried factory ammo or just reloads?

tried both. better with reloads. i'm just too picky on grouping. love the rifles though.

My .223 Ultra Varmint has a long throat, so I load my 50 Gr V-Max's to book specs and she shoots beautifully.
1 inch at 200 yds. ;D

My .223 handi has quite the gap, often the bullet will stop for lunch and a nap on it's long trip to the lands.
