New R-15 owner has a question
« on: January 31, 2009, 02:27:28 PM »
I just picked up my new R-15 rifle today. I am new to the AR-15 platform and I need some help.
When I picked the rifle up from the gun store and brought it home, The bolt was locked open.
When I am storing the rifle until I use it, should I keep the bolt locked open?

Any help would be greatfull and appreciated on advice for this new rifle.

I don't on mine. Bolt down cover closed is how mine are stored.

....and hammer down.  I keep a snap cap or fired case in the chamber so the hammer spring does not take a set.   I purchased my Colt in 1983 and the original hammer spring still lights them off just fine.
