:) MNBear, this may be a stupid question, but I am not familar with MN law. Can you hunt over bait in the spring??? Here the spring hunt is a popular thing, but in my area, I don't mess with it. When one considers all the effort getting your bait set, and getting the bear coming in, then wham the season is over.  >:( I need to explain. We have a quota, when so many females are killed the season closes. Usually, when the bears start to move, the season is over in a couple days. So I travel northwest for my bear hunting. Plus there are more bear. 8) I was just interested if MN has a spring season. Good luck ;)

I am pretty sure there is no spring bear hunt in any eastern state, no MI or WI anyway.

:)1st, thanks, that is what I thought was the case. >:(  Times sure have changed. I remember when in Maine and I think, Minn. the bear was almost classed as pest and could be hunted about anytime. :-\ They need protection, but spring hunts are fun and the hides beautiful. Thanks again. ;)

Baiting in Mn. starts mid August and you can use anything to bring them in at first but a few days before season use the lightest sweetest bait you can find. Donuts and popcorn work very well, they stay hungry on popcorn cause they don't fill up and is sweet.
