Tim, What is the latest on the 460 S&W rechamber?

Any range reports etc?  I am thinking of reaming my 45 colt, but am debating whether to go to 460 S&W, or just to 454 Casull?  I was going to send a PM, but thought others may want to know too.

It's been to the range once with the 250gr SST, 100yd groups were 3", same with the FTX factory ammo, will have some 200gr FTXs to try as soon as Midsouth gets them in stock. Average velocity with the 200gr ammo was 2865fps, dunno if the bullet will handle that kind of velocity at close range tho, 2200fps is Hornady's spec from a revolver.

Have you tried any 45LC or 454 after the rechamber?

 Any more information here would be appreciated. I too am considering this for my 45Colt barrel. I'm uneasy about pushing the long colt so hard. The improved priming in the cassull case as well as established loadings. It eases my mind.  ;D I could always shoot long colts in it until the cows came home with no worries...
 
 No offence, but I would'nt go 460, that's what I have a 45-70 for... ::) ;D.

Good point CW. I too have a 45-70.  Going to 454 casull would be less likely to effect the accuracy of the 45lc than the extra length 460 chamber would.

 Exactly.  ;D
 Also remember that the 45C, 454 & 460 shoot .452 dia bullets compaired to the .458 of the 45-70. So even though they are all 45's they are still different. All the bullets I have for the 45C can still be used in the 454, with only slight loading down. Where as the 460 would be the otherside of the spectrum and would likely render my bullets to fragile. I would need to load them down so far as to negate any advantage this caliber could have for me. The exact opposite of what I am up against now. The 454 would be the intelligent change...
