From what I have seen it is a Bushnell or a Simmons, lower quality scope. It is acquit for the job but not the best.

I think it's the Simmons 8-Point.  Really cheap.  Mine lasted two seasons and then it's zero started to wander.  I replaced it with a Nikon.  I think the package scope would be good for a .22 but not for anything bigger than a 22-250.  It's a good deal though, and if you don't want to drop a lot of money on a rifle and then a lot more money on a good scope, it's a great way to go and will work well for a while.  Just don't think you're going to pass it (the scope) down to your kids and grandkids.

I like Savage rifles, but I wouldn't buy the package deal.  The rings and scope are very basic.  I would buy the the G or F series you want and then get a quality set of Rings (Millett?) and play the Ebay game and get a nice used rifle scope.

anytime you're buying a package rifle you're getting the cheapest optics and mounts known to man. I personally despise them.

I just bought one used, mod 111, in .270,  pre-accu-trigger and it had a Simmons 3X9X40, 8 point scope with cheap rings and bases, but the price was right. The scope, bases, and rings gotta go.

Don't just dispose of the scopes and rings

If you dont want them then Post them for free or person getting pay the shipping so you wouldn't be out much or any money but helping out a fellow hunter/shooter.

I personally like to keep a scope or two in storage. You never know when your or a friends  scopes fails at the worst time like opening morning. It would only take a few minutes to change it and re sight in and you saved the day. Even if it is a cheep tasco it could save the hunting season.

Friend of mine cought two for him and his son.  BOTH scopes broke with in the two first months.  The scopes are total POS!!  The bases and rings are fine.  He did get a great deal even considering the crap scopes.

My Savage 10 had a Simmons on it with split rings.  The bases are good, just like you would get from Weaver, I just took them off and bedded them with blue lock tight and they have worked for years.  The scope went to a rim fire rifle and is still fine and I don't remember where the rings went.  Generally on package rifles you get a cheaper price even if you don't count the scope and mounting hardware, so they are less than free, they pay you to take them.  Larry

This is the same package that my buddy bought at Wally World about 15 years ago.   That rifle shot 1/2" -3/4" groups right out of the box with Winchester Supreme 130 gr.   Today the rifle will still hold the same size groups.   It is truly a lucky find of a great rifle.  I have tried to get him to sell it to me but he always says no (he's smart).   It's the only rifle he owns.

Sometimes the package gun is cheaper that the stand alone rifle.

If you know how, the package scope can be adjusted for 50yd parallex and used for a .22. Or sell it for $25.00.

Mine came with a Simmons. My gunsmith told me that the price difference for him with the scope is just $10.00 more than without. What does that tell you? I replaced it with a Burris and have been very happy. Just mounted the old one on a beater for range plinking.

Nothing worse than a cheap scope.  Don't do it.

Well for $10. more you get a Scope, Mounts and Rings..So you don't use them...sell em on E-Bay. I changed all of mine, but I wanted a single piece base, other wise I could have used them..

I only recall seeing the Simmons 8-point on the package rifles.

my old simmons that came with the savage never gave me any trouble.. this new one ,,don t click.. you don t know if its really adjustin or just not doing anything..
im gonna give it one more chance an then the old simmons goes on for now..
i put a 4 12 on my 1st 110 ..i was able to get more of the rifles potential with that scope..slim
edit.. had to put the old simmons on.. after wasting 50 bucks..
4 shots and i was sighted in.. savage really made a mistake changing to this scope.. my whole opinion of savage might be diifferent if my first savage had this package scope on it..big mistake by savage ,,i don t care what walmart wants them to do.. hurts thier products reputation..jmo slim

I had bought one cheap here from a dealer in central Ont HWY 11. The gun chambered in 300 SAUM fired tight groups but you needed a hammer to open the bolt after each round was fired . I returned the gun and was informed to work the action hard and fast , after they checked it out and lubed the lugs with grease . Well the rifle continued to be very hard to operate after firing a factory round and the dealer would not return the gun to Savage . They finally took it back on a trade .
Had the rifle not been defective I would have been very pleased with How it felt, shotand grouped .

Never bought another Savage Bolt, for fear of getting another with a Hard bolt lift.
As for price you can not beat it, even after replacing the scope.
