Goldtone hammer for the BC (or Handi)
« on: January 27, 2009, 02:40:23 PM »
I have read the FAQs with respect to the goldtone hammer that Numrich has.  In fact I ordered one today.

My concern is that from what I read, the goldtone hammer will not be an exact replacement for the hammer in my new BC (which seems to be a 2008, per the serial number).  There may have to be some accommodation for the Numrich hammer.

Although I’m not mechanically inept, I feel somewhat challenged by the task ahead.  I’ve worked on autos and for the last few years restored vintage outboards, but this kind of work may not translate well to firearms work.  A lot of the principals are the same, but the application may be a bit different.

It occurred to me that a better route might be to investigate getting the original hammer gold, brass, or bronze plated.  Has anyone explored this possibility?

I've done a little searching on that, here's one of the sources I found that may work well.
