Uberti 1858 Rem conv.
« on: January 27, 2009, 11:47:24 AM »
Took a ride up to Jay's in Michigan Monday with a friend and picked up a Uberti 58 Remington conversion in 45 colt.  I've been looking for something nostalgic for my "cave" and shooting on rare occasions and always looked at the open top Colt replica's as a possibility, but when I saw this Rem conversion I couldn't pass it up.  I've seen these advertised by Taylor's, this one is imported by Stoeger.  These are pretty neat.  Just thought I'd share.

I;m familiar with Jays in Clare. Was this a used gun or new. Did you buy this as a conversion or did you have to buy it separtely. Thanks

This was a new gun, and it was a factory conversion already set up in 45 colt.   Looks just like this one.

The cylinder is pretty big, six shot, conversion ring is removable, loading gate, and ejector rod.

GJ, it shoots just fine, good groups, lock's up tight, no complaints.  Sight is not exactly top dead center due to the barrel needing to be turned in just a tad, you have to look real close to see this, typical Uberti problem but since the front sight is dovetailed in it was no problem tapping that over a tad and getting it shooting straight.  I doubt I will mess with turning the barrel unless I get bored someday.
