Did anyone read the interveiw in Feb American Rifleman? Lock Stock and Barrel pg 18. It explains what is up with the Freedom Group Inc. who is what we refer to as Remington but who are actually Bushmaster,Remington, H&R ,Marlin and NEF. It lays out thier plan some of what they are up to. One thing of note is the custom shop is being revamped. "European companies have taken over the premium firearems catagory and, therefore, we are investing in the Custom shop to bring those products, jobs and purchases back to the US with domestic production of high-end rifles and shotguns and the part that may intrest some of you "we are exploring the custom-shop concept for our other brands" Kurt

It's nice to see it published, I posted in December that Remington was considering offering H&R products in their Ilion Custom Shop.  ;)

I am still a believer in the old adage actions speak louder than word's. And you always wonder are they just telling you what ya want to here or are they really going to do it. One thing for sure I have not heard one word about the Gun manufacture folks being in any finacial trouble. Other than the NEF closure and I don't know a lot about all that happened there ...but my opinion is they were just way behind in capital improvements and the cost of bringing them up to speed was greater than they wanted to take a chance on not that the product itself was not profitable ,thus FGI bringing them into thier family. Has anyone found out for sure if the NEF branded products are now unavailable? Are all the products now available as H&R products, or did they trim the line?

The only thing I see on the website that is marked NEF are the Pardner pump and the Excell Auto. I wonder if this is the plan-to  use the H&R name on the single shots and the NEF name on anything else. This would keep the brand going, but would remove the 2 names/1 product deal that was going on. Just a thought, Billy

You would be correct Billy, only the imports are now marked NEF, I just confirmed it.

Whether they're stamped H&R or NEF makes me no difference.  I just hope Remington keeps producing those great little Handi rifles at a moderate price.

The Baikal rifles Remington sells (SPR 18) look pretty nice too. I'd like to check them out up close, BUT I surely wouldn't want to see them supplant the SB-1 & SB-2! :'(

It's a nice rifle, super accurate (sub moa) w/Federal 150gr .308

The trigger needed some work though.

They won't get rid of the Handi's, the niche is to good  ;D

I did see that pic in "Single Shots", she looks good. ;)
