Remington Model 5
« on: January 17, 2009, 12:21:05 PM »
Does anyone out there have any experience with the Remington model 5 ? If so, what kind of accuracy are you getting ? Caliber is .22 long rifle. Just picked one up today at Cabelas on a smokin hot deal. They go on special starting the 22nd, but some fliers went out early and they honored the price for me. Regularly $289, on sale for $100 bucks off. dinger.

That's a good deal.  The 5 is made in Yugoslavia.  The action is very similar to a Winchester 69.  It'll shoot very well with quality ammo.

I bought one about two weeks ago.  I have tried a few brands of ammo and so far it really likes Federal automatch and Remington subsonics.  The federals are shooting under an inch at 50 yards

Are extra magazines available? Can't seem to locate them.
Haven't bought the rifle as yet because of this. My local dealer has one for $215. Looks and feels very nice. Since it's now discontinued by Remington, I also am concerned about getting parts should the rifle fail in some way. I also see where the Charles Daly Superior II is the same rifle. Also discontinued and no mags available on their web site.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
